Client: Laura Miller, Executive Director: www.hshc.org

Occupation: Non-profit organization

Project Type: Site redesign

Site Maintained by: Jenn

Details: The HSHC's goal was to completely recreate its image. Unlike most animal shelters, which utilize cute and cartoon-like graphics, the HSHC wanted a sleek and professional marketing package.

First, Jenn created a logo that included a tag line to drive home the organization's purpose and to connect with potential adopters. Then she ensured that the website itself visually supported the tag line. For example, Jenn utilized stock photography that portrayed happy families with their pets. She also used specific colors. The rich red of the site's background symbolizes love, while the blue of the logo represents health, peace, and stability (which pets can bring to a family).

Laura's Comments: "As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, there are many considerations involved with choosing a web designer. Originally, I had worked with individuals who offered their services for free. As with anything "for free," it didn't work out. Without anyone to maintain the site, it became outdated, and nothing turns a donor away more quickly than a site that isn't updated regularly. And then Jenn came to our rescue.

She quickly understood my philosophy and how I wanted to separate myself from the normal pet adoption sites. We worked together on the theme and she came up with a site that was far better and more professional than I thought would be possible. She is extremely trustworthy and has great ideas. She spent time researching ways to market my business and provided me with a very professional and friendly site. I have received many compliments and donations via the site are beginning to increase.

I highly recommend Jenn's services to those looking to increase their business, reach additional clients and possess a site that is set apart from all others. She is easy to work with, professional and very direct. All deadlines that I gave were met or beat. And Jenn works diligently to keep costs low for my non-profit organization."
